The Goes Wrong Extended Universe (GWEU) was conceptualised by Mischief Theatre in 2013. It revolves around the fictional Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, an inept and accident prone group of thespians who attempt to put on performances that often end up in disasters. The first introduction to the characters was The Play That Goes Wrong, followed by Peter Pan Goes Wrong, A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, and The Goes Wrong Show, which was commissioned by the BBC in February 2019. The first series of The Goes Wrong Show first aired on 23rd December 2019, and it was commissioned for a second series in February 2020. Series 2 began with a Christmas special in December 2020, and was followed by 5 more episodes in September 2021.
